With the use of Lynne Twist’s book, The Soul of Money: Reclaiming the Wealth of our Inner Resources, and other resources, we will work with cultural messages of scarcity and guilt around money and then look at what would happen in our lives as we shift towards experiences of sufficiency, freedom and purpose in relationship to our resources. We will step back and examine our relationship with money and how our patterns of earning, spending, and giving away money offer an intriguing insight into our minds, hearts and acts of service. We will reflect on Biblical stories and our own stories, and we will consider the wisdom of the Simplicity and Sabbath and Slowing movements as we seek greater spiritual freedom around money. We will explore money in the contest of our call and the dream of God for our lives.
Tuition: $90 includes book and materials.

Servant leadership is a paradoxical term which illuminates the true nature of genuine leadership at every level of life (workplace, community, family, church and world) and also brings us to the very heart of Christian discipleship, the way of Jesus. Servant leadership, as a radical redefinition of power and the nature of leadership, offers a compelling model for contemporary Christian living and a spiritual path that connects faith with daily life. In this course, we explore central themes of servant leadership — communion, community, compassion, call, money and power — and their interrelatedness, providing a context for spiritual practice and introduction to other Core classes. Being in a leadership position in your daily life is NOT a requirement for taking this class. Participants are offered an opportunity to re-examine their inner life as it relates to the “outer” world.

Praying with Color: Saturday, July 17th 9a.m. – Noon Tuition: $30 (Supplies provided; BYOJ -Bring your own Journal.) Presenter: Mary Miller
This is a workshop that will introduce you to a new way to do intercessory prayer…if you stumble with words- finding the right word, or maybe feeling that you don’t know how to pray for another person, try this: this workshop will introduce a way of bringing color and prayer together. Based on the book Praying in Color by Sybil MacBeth, we will take a common practice that a lot of us do unconsciously, doodling, and see how to transform our doodle into a container for prayer. One reviewer calls it ‘praying with the right side of the brain.’ You don’t have to be an artist, just let your hand play on the paper. And if that seems intimidating, we will have patterns available which you can use to fill in with color and names.”A new prayer form gives God an invitation and a new door to penetrate the locked cells of our hearts and minds,” explains Sybil MacBeth.
