In Relationship

AM Psalm 16, 17 • PM Psalm 22
Isa. 42:(1-9)10-17 • Eph. 3:1-13 • Mark 2:13-22

Isaiah recalls for us our covenant relationship with God. Yes, God loves us and cares for us. Yes, we are God’s own. God is like our father or mother. God tends to us and nurtures us. And, just as in any relationship, there are expectations of us as well.

We are to be servants of God. As such we are called to uphold justice, to live in righteousness. We do God’s good work here on earth, to make real the dream that God has for our lives and for the world.

This is our covenant with God. We shall not forsake each other. God created us, breathes life into all the world, and we honor this by acting in accordance to God’s will.

So today, I give thanks for the God that created me, for the breath of God that fills my lungs. I ask God to use me, to act through me, to bring about justice. I sing praises for my relationship with God.
