The First Letter of Paul to the Thessalonians

AM Psalm 5, 6 • PM Psalm 10, 11
Isa. 1:21-31 • 1 Thess. 2:1-12 • Luke 20:9-18

Our reading for today comes from the First Letter of Paul to the Thessalonians. “For you remember our labor and toil, brethren; we worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you, while we preached to you the gospel of God. You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and righteous and blameless was our behavior to you believers; for you know how, like a father with his children, we exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to lead a life worthy of God….”

This letter from Paul to the Thessalonians shows a person who desires to share the knowledge of God. It shows one who is gentle and encouraging.  It shows a person who people listen to when they mourn, who keep you from falling into yourself. Wherever Paul could boost, he boosted. And if we were blown off course he would help.

Like a Quinn Kelsey singing Rigoletto so perfectly that no one thought he had studied for two decades he sang the role as if remembered, not learned.

“…for though I am absent in body, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the firmness of your faith in Christ.” (Paul, l Colossians 2).
