Vestry Election
FROM THE RECTOR
Five outstanding members of our parish have offered themselves for the ministry of serving on the vestry, and I am grateful for each one of them: Karen Hodges, Mandy Kelly, Mac Mayfield, Jim Norys, and Justin Sneed. To volunteer for this ministry is a significant gift to us, and I hope you will join me in thanking them. You can read more about the candidates below.
This year, in addition to electing four individuals to serve a three-year term, you will also be asked to elect a fifth individual to serve the remaining one year of the position currently occupied by Jerry Rose. Jerry has decided to resign from the vestry for personal reasons, and I thank him for two years of faithful service. With five individuals offering themselves for five open spots, whoever receives the least number of votes will be asked to serve for one year.
The election will take place on Sunday, December 10, and we will use an electronic ballot with a ranked-choice format. According to the canons of the church, individuals must meet four qualifications in order to vote: 1) be at least sixteen years old, 2) be a member of St. Paul’s and have been for at least thirty days, 3) participate in worship at least three times a year, and 4) be a part of a household that has made a financial commitment to the parish or that cannot afford to do so. If you are eligible, I hope you will participate in the election.
Please join me in giving thanks for those who are willing to serve and praying for them and the ministry that is ahead of them.
Yours Faithfully,
Evan D. Garner
