Our Next Youth Minister

A Letter From Evan

I am delighted to announce that Curtis Moneymaker has agreed to serve as our next Youth Minister. Finding a Youth Minister in the middle of the school year is always a challenge, and I am grateful that Curtis is willing to step in and bring his gifts for ministry to our youth program. Curtis is an experienced youth volunteer at St. Paul’s who already knows many participants in the program. He plans to go to graduate school next fall, and we will conduct a full search at that time. Curtis’ first Sunday in this new role will be October 2, and we will find ways to help him get to know our youth, parents, and families. Join me in welcoming Curtis as our new Youth Minister.

Yours faithfully,

Evan

A Letter From Curtis

Hello St. Paul’s,

I’m excited to be joining more deeply in the work of this great community, by serving as your new Youth Minister.

Many of you may already know me from other ministries throughout our church, but here is a little about me. I grew up in Elkins, Arkansas and have always spent a lot of my time in Fayetteville. For college, I moved to Siloam Springs to go to John Brown University, where I completed a B.A. in Theological Studies and Philosophy. Since moving back to Fayetteville, I’ve joined Education for Ministry at St. Paul’s and am entering into my second year in that program. When I’m not at St. Paul’s, I enjoy hanging out at coffee shops, learning about history, theology, and philosophy, and reading murder-mysteries like Sherlock Holmes, Poirot, or Father Brown.

I’ve been a volunteer in the youth program at St. Paul’s for a little over a year now, primarily with Sunday EYC, but also for a session at Camp Mitchell this last summer. On Sunday mornings I often hold the position of an usher or an acolyte, and I’ve repeatedly served beside several of our youths during both of those ministries. I am always impressed with the level of attentiveness and reverence that the youth bring to our Sunday worship. I truly believe that they have much to offer us; by both their willingness and eagerness to participate in the life of the Church, as well as by their questionings and ideas.

I’m excited to be able to join with the youth of our church in the journey that they find themselves on, in their stages of life and within the peculiar time we live in. I’m confident in my ability to be a guide, a resource, and a teacher for our young people, and to point them always to the love that God has given us in our Lord Jesus Christ. But I would be kidding myself if I didn’t fully expect to learn many things from them as well.

I’ll also depend on the help of the many people who volunteer with our youth programs to continue to build up and strengthen our community as one that reveals the love, acceptance, and holiness of God. I’m looking forward to working with those volunteers and hope to help equip them with everything they need in order for us to carry out this great task together.

I can’t wait to continue to get to know all of you and to begin serving you in this capacity.

With eagerness and faithfulness,
Curtis Moneymaker
