Support Dick Johnston Camp
Dick Johnston Camp for Children (DJCC) is a week-long summer camp experience for children ages 8-12 who have or had an incarcerated parent. Campers attend free of charge. DJCC also provides scholarships for children ages 13-18 to attend other Camp Mitchell sessions.
If you know of any children from 8 years through high school who have ever had an incarcerated parent and would be interested in Camp Mitchell, please tell their parent or guardian to contact Kristi Palmer or email info@stpaulsfay.org and we’ll connect you.
This camp happens largely through the generosity of members of the Episcopal Church throughout Arkansas. Camp starts July 16, 2023. There are several ways you can help:
Write letters to campers. We make sure that every camper gets mail every day. Letters are written in advance of the camp, so you can do this at your own pace and do as many or as few as you choose. Purchase and donate items from our wish list. Every camper is provided with necessities for a safe and comfortable week. And, to encourage literacy, reading, and imagination, campers select books throughout the week that they can read at camp or take home to read at another time. Items purchased from the DJCC wish list are shipped directly to Camp Mitchell.
Make a tax-deductible financial donation. All donations, small or large, are appreciated! Here’s how your donation might be used:
$1,200: Sponsors two campers for the week (Camp fees and supplies)
$600: Sponsors one camper for the week
$300: Co-Sponsors one camper for the week.
$100: Provides 5 days of swimming lessons for 2 children
$50: Provides necessities for a camper with limited means
$25: Supports programming for campers during the week
