Amanda Tyler is executive director of BJC (Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty), leading the organization as it upholds the historic Baptist principle of religious liberty: defending the free exercise of religion and protecting against its establishment by government. The author of How to End Christian Nationalism (October 2024), Tyler is also the co-host of BJC’s Respecting Religion podcast. Tyler’s constitutional law analysis and advocacy for faith freedom for all have been featured by major news outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, CBS News, ABC News, CNN, and MSNBC, and she has testified before Congress on religious liberty and Christian nationalism. A graduate of Georgetown University and The University of Texas School of Law, she lives in Dallas with her husband and son.

About the Tippy McMichael Lecture Series
The Tippy McMichael Lecture Series explores a wide range of spiritual issues and features accomplished speakers from various disciplines and religious traditions.
Most events are structured as a two-day series with lectures on two different but related subjects. A Saturday evening lecture is followed by an Adult Forum presentation on Sunday Morning.
The series is an expression of thanksgiving to Clifton “Tippy” McMichael, a lifelong member of St. Paul’s and a strong-willed woman with an independent mind, and is funded by the St. Paul’s Permanent Endowment fund, which was created from Tippy’s planned gift of $1.5 million to St. Paul’s, “to enhance the life and work of the church.”
