Walk Right Up, Folks

AM Psalm 85, 86 • PM Psalm 91, 92
Ezek. 1:28-3:3 • Heb. 4:14-5:6 • Luke 9:28-36

In today’s reading from Hebrews, the writer is speaking to early Christians and trying to help them not be discouraged and to stay vigilant in their faith. He encourages the readers, reminding them that Jesus is “a Hight Priest who has been tempted as we are.”

I read this and was calmed. Calmed because I am reminded that Jesus knows our human struggles, our pain, and our joys. He knows, because he experienced all of these same things. We can come to Jesus just as we are, and we don’t have to do anything special. He understands the day-to-day messiness of life on earth.

I enjoy reading different interpretations of the bible and this week, The Message sums this passage up nicely. “So, let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.”

Looking forward to what will come as we venture back out into the world.
