Stewardship Talk: Trent Palmer

From The Rector

Why do we spend so much time and energy on Christian formation? As Trent Palmer describes in this week's video, it is because formation is how we are shaped for ministry both in the church and in the world. St. Paul's has long been a church that makes a difference in our community, and the fuel for those efforts is our formation. Whether it is a program as intensive as EfM or a practice as simple as keeping silence each day, we are formed as Jesus' disciples so that we can follow him as we celebrate and explore God's infinite grace, acceptance, and love.

Your annual financial commitment to God's work in the world is also a part of your own formation. Our priorities and, thus, our whole lives are shaped by the decision to set aside the first certain percentage of our financial resources for what God is inviting us to do. What part of your treasure will you share with St. Paul's? What percentage of your income will you devote to God? Let your decision be an act of faith--one that expresses your love of God and neighbor and one that offers your whole heart to God.

This Sunday, October 18, you are invited to share your commitment for next year with St. Paul's. If you did not receive a stewardship packet in the mail, you can find it here. If you are coming to one of our Sunday-morning in-person services (reservations required), you can bring your card with you. If not, you can come to the church between noon and 4pm to place it in a basket in front of the altar. Or you can share your commitment online or mail it to us.

When you share your gifts with our church, you are sharing part of yourself with God and the work we do in God's name. We are a church that believes that God's love is a light for the world and that we are called to shine that light to others. Thank you for sharing your gifts and shining your light.

Yours Faithfully,

Evan
