Constant Love

“Above all, maintain constant love for one another.” Sounds easy, right. But it isn’t. Sometimes it seems impossible.

How can I maintain constant love when someone lies about me, betrays me, and drains me emotionally? I lived with a family member at his request and because I thought I could help him get better. He fit that description. I was determined to send out love to him—for my own health and hopefully to send some healing to him. When I just couldn’t muster any love, I would pray to God to send God’s love to him. And I could be at peace knowing I’d done what I could and God was there. When someone doesn’t want to heal, they don’t and he didn’t. But I grew in love and understanding.

I found God’s strength through prayer and through knowing that God had given me gifts of listening and determination. Find your gifts, find God’s strength, and maintaining constant love can be possible.

I am so grateful that as a child I was surrounded by the constant love of my mother, my grandmother, and my aunt.
