Little Lamb

Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

The Little Lamb Ministry walks alongside parents as they prepare to welcome a new child into their lives. Whether the child arrives through birth, fostering, or adoption this season of life is filled with eager expectation. The transition to life with a new child brings both joy and grief in change.

Our ministry seeks to support parents both spiritually and practically as well as foster relationships between members of the congregation in a similar stage of life. From the announcement that a family is expecting, through receiving, and if desired on to baptism—our ministry is available to you.

If your family is preparing to welcome a child and when the child arrives please let us know by emailing prayer@stpaulsfay.org or calling the main office.

What do we do?

Quarterly Gatherings for Expecting Parents

We gather expecting parents four times a year to build community and to offer both spiritual and practical support through Christian community. Parents are welcome to attend these gatherings throughout pregnancy as well as during the fourth trimester.

Fostering and Adoption Mentorship

If your family is preparing to welcome a child through fostering or adoption we would love to connect you with other members of our congregation who have shared experiences. These families can offer mentorship and guidance through the process.

Grief and Loss Support

If your family experiences infertility, miscarriage, pregnancy or early loss we are here for you. Know that others in our congregation share this experience and are ready to offer you support when you are ready.

Spring and Fall Baptismal Preparation Events

We gather twice a year to prepare parents, Godparents, and candidates for baptism. If you are considering baptism please plan to join us in the fall for baptisms on All Saints Day (November) or on the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (January) and in the spring for baptisms on Easter (March / April), the Bishop’s visitation (May), or the Day of Pentecost (June).

When you let us know that you are expecting we will:

Upon announcement of expectation:

  • Add your family to the parish prayer list.

  • Gather information about your due date or fostering / adoption timeline.

  • Send you a card including information about our upcoming gatherings.

  • Offer to connect you with other families.

Upon birth or child placement:

  • Offer a pastoral visit to the hospital or your home.

  • Offer a pastoral meal and practical help.

  • Send you a card with a special prayer for your family.

  • Offer a thanksgiving over your family during worship.

  • Gift your family with a prayer blanket.

  • Send you information regarding opportunities for baptismal preparation.
