Percentage Giving

Stewardship as a spiritual discipline begins with percentage giving. When we set aside the first certain percentage of our resources for God’s work in the world, we make God’s work our first priority—even if we only give back a fraction of what we have been given. 

Take a look at the chart below. Estimate what percentage of your total income you currently dedicate to God. Could you grow in your commitment? At what percentage would your giving represent a full participation in God’s work? Could you grow 1% a year until you reached that goal?

Faith is like a mustard seed, and so is the faithful practice of stewardship. Start small, and let it grow. Begin with a percentage gift of any size, commit to growing each year, and watch how your ability to trust God increases as the percentage you give back increases.
